TAKTO DESIGN GROUP
Passion for art and design
We are an art and design project created in 2008 in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, with the intention to promote and commercialize what we love to do: To design and create using a wide range of local natural and reclaimed materials, and produce these designs in our own workshops, using workers trained by us who share our love for the beauty of natural materials, quality and detail, ensuring them a stable pay and working conditions.
Takto’s artistic production includes Katrin’s ceramic murals and wall compositions, commission for hotels and private residences, lines of lighting, indoor and outdoor decoration in Mexico and abroad.
George Samuelson, trained as an industrial designer, created his own unique style in furniture design, earning a renowned place in Mexican design. He also created sculpture using wood, iron and other reclaimed materials.
Angela Damman is a designer born in the Unites States of America living now in Mexico. Angela has been inspired by the ancient techniques of local artisans, transforming vegetable fibers into luxurious handbags and products for homes.
Takto Design currently produces the work of three designers.
Supporting local culture
All our designs are produced by artisans trained personally by us. They work in our own workshops in Mérida, as well as in rural communities in Yucatan.
By ensuring our workers a stable pay and working conditions and allowing them to work in their own homes and communities, we help them to thrive while maintaining their families intact.
